The RadiSys Long-Life ATX board is a standard-form-factor baseboard for embedded applications. It has the same footprint and is 100% compatible with IntelŠs Advanced/ML ATX Board (Intel part number BEXXML0BC).
RadiSys produces this product as a stable baseboard intended for long-term use (multiple years) in OEM products such as medical devices and automation equipment. It adheres to the ATX specification, but contains minimal on-board integration to allow the OEM maximum flexibility in areas of graphics, networking and other I/O.
While the Long-Life ATX board can support Pentium(R) processors from 75 MHz, RadiSys offers configurations from 100MHz to 166 MHz and above. It contains a 256KB L2 cache and the Intel 430HX PCIset. It contains integrated connectors for serial, parallel, keyboard and mouse ports, thus reducing cabling costs. It contains 3 or 4 PCI slots and 2 or 3 ISA slots (one of each is shared). Four SIMM sockets support a variety of memory options. The board contains standard header connectors for power, IDE drives, floppy drive, and for miscellaneous connections such as reset, speaker and LEDs.
The RadiSys product uses gold plated connectors and headers on the board for best long-term reliability. Any SIMMs installed must have gold-plated pads instead of tin-plated pads. The RadiSys product is also covered by a two-year warranty.
An Intel BIOS is provided in a boot-block flash memory. The BIOS supports a number of special features, such as IDE autoconfiguration, PCI autoconfiguration, ISA Plug and Play, and multiple languages. The BIOS supports Advanced Power Management (APM version 1.1), allowing a standby mode to be initiated by a keyboard hot-key sequence, a selectable time-out period, or an auxiliary sleep/resume switch. Boot options include boot from a CD-ROM or network via a network add-in card. A 4 KB area in flash is reserved for an OEM custom logo. The BIOS also contains a set-up utility and a power-on self test.
